Arriving late to the Colleen Hoover party, I asked my daughter which one of Hoover’s books she’d recommend. She picked Verity. Honestly, I almost didn’t get past the back cover once I realized Verity is a psychological thriller. I really love happy endings. I need happy endings. They heal my soul. Knowing this about myself, I was bit apprehensive but decided a little mix up might be nice.

Ha, that was my first mistake. Let’s just say this book is very dark and will stick with you. The number of times I had to set it aside and almost didn’t pick it up again was many. Yet the hype is real. Verity is the epitome of a page turner. The twists and turns are brilliant and will keep you guessing through the end. You may not know who to root for, but you will still find elements of romance intertwined within the pages. Those elements are what kept me reading and wanting to discover how this uncomfortable story unfolded.

I look forward to finding out what else Colleen Hoover has to offer within her library of books. But hmm…my next pick will definitely be something that pulls on the heartstrings in a very happy, comfortable way.
